A Rock and Roll Map of Manhattan

created at: 12/06/2010“If you’re sick of hearing Frank Sinatra tell you that he wants to be a part of it, or Alicia Keys gushing about how these streets will make you feel brand new, then rejoice – here’s an alternative musical history of the Big Apple.”

Flavorwire has made fairly complete guide to Manhattan via the rock and roll lyrics it inspired. The above infographic is nice, but the actual by-neighborhood guide is much more juicy:   They take you from Harlem through Midtown to the Battery, stopping along all the important lyrical intersections and landmarks along the way. And, as bonus, take you along the subway lines to Brooklyn for the underground references.

Yeah, sure, they missed tons of everyone’s favorites; but it’s five minutes worth your time.
