How to: Carve a Pumpkin Skull with an Exposed Squash Brain

Artist and designer Noah Scalin of Skull-A-Day provides a detailed tutorial for carving this clever take on the Jack-O-Lantern.   The project is another look at Scalin’s “discovery” from 2010, where he used “careful dissection” to figure out “what the inside of a Jack-O’-Lantern really looks like!”

About this year’s piece, he says,

A few years ago I discovered that with careful dissection you could discover the secret anatomy of a Jack-O-Lantern. This year I decided to try another experiment and low-and-behold it turns out that if you cut it just right you can reveal the hidden brain of a pumpkin!…I thought it would be fun to give you a step-by-step guide if you wanted to give this a try yourself…
