How To: Make a Laptop Stand from Recycled Books (for under $5.00)

created at: 02/28/2011

Alex Braidwood is a clever fellow.

Using two retired books, he created this attractive laptop docking station for nestle his laptop and save desktop space when connected to a monitor, keyboard, and mouse.

“The selection of these two books was formal but it was also important to be very careful which books were being taken out of circulation. Both books are outdated and incomplete. An additional feature of the stand is that the book’s pages can act as a holder for notes, cards and reminders. Books: $2. Hardware: $2.65.”

Though Alex doesn’t provide an exact how-to, the construction is clear from the photos: Two equally-spaced holes are drilled through each book, and held together by bolts, washers, and nuts.
