How to: Make DIY Typographic Pumpkins

Fairgoods.com offers this typographic take on the painted pumpkin technique. The trick? That internet DIY staple: chalkboard paint, which allows the type to be drawn on, rather than some complex stencil work or hand painting. I like how the chalkboard spray gives the pumpkins a matte finish.

Of course, pulling this off would require somewhat of a steady hand, but the tutorial includes a helpful technique to create an image transfer that places the outlines on the pumpkin. All you need to do is color it in.

The point here: something we’ve seen before – i.e. chalkboard paint pumpkins – still works awesomely when done well.
