This Weekend, You Should Make: Frozen Whiskey Lemonade

created at: 08/26/2016

We have absolutely zero reservations about hanging onto the summer season as long as possible. With temps outside the ManMade HQ topping 99° today, it seems Mother Nature is on our side, regardless of what all the back-to-school sales say.

And as far as ways to enjoy the season and keep cool, we have but three words for you: Frozen. Whiskey. Lemonade.

How to: Make Your Own Scotch Whisky Bacon

A few years ago, the bacon craze hit the cocktail scene, and we saw everything from bacon fat washes to candied bacon garnishes on sticks to all sorts of meat-y infusions and even full-on strips of protein floating in glasses.

We're okay with that trend dying down a bit, though we can't deny the fact that the smoky sweetness of bacon really does happen to complement the flavors of certain spirits, particularly whisky, quite well. So, instead of taking the bacon flavor to the whisky, let's take the whisky... to... the bacon.

Why the Hot Toddy is a Man's Ultimate Winter Cocktail... and How to Make It

created at: 12/16/2014

Egg nog is a divisive libation, loved by its proponents and eschewed by any means from its haters. Many think the idea of warming wine and adding oranges and cloves and such is a waste of perfectly good wine, and many of us are happy to simply take a black coffee and a glass of whiskey, rather than trying to Irish up anything.

Poor Man's Pappy: How to "Make" Your Own Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon... No Waiting List Required

If you know anything about bourbon, you've no doubt heard the fables of Pappy Van Winkle, one of the most hard-to-find and sought-after bottles on the market. Everything You Need to Know (and Own) to Build the Ultimate Home Bar

created at: 10/27/2015

We love a night out as much as anyone, but the truth is: you don't have to get dressed up to deal with noise and crowds and drop $12 plus a 20% tip to enjoy a great cocktail. Heck, you don't even technically have to be dressed at all to experience a balanced, well-presented drink. A sidecar tastes just as good in your hole-y PJs as it does with your shirt tucked in. No judgment here.

The truth is, the properly stocked home bar is part of our American tradition. It got lost a bit in the blended neon slushies and pitchers of the 70s, 80s, and 90s (we're looking at you, Baby Boomers), but from the original speakeasy cocktail days of the 1930s to the space-age swinging bachelor pad of the 50s and 60s, part of being a grown man meant asking "Can I get you something to drink?" and meaning it.

Seriously...This is the Best Drinking Snack of All Time

created at: 09/09/2014

There is bar food and there is drinking food. Bar food tends to center around the deep fryer and the reheating of frozen goods within, and it can certainly be delicious, and also horrible.

Drinking food, on the other hand, is designed to be a foil against your beverage, a complement. The beverage enhances the food, the food the beverage, and everyone has a good time.

This is not a recipe for chicken wings, or for putting pretzels in a bowl. But it is an amazing, and unbelievably simple, snack that you certainly need to make the next time you bust out the bottle opener.

How to: Make The Perfect Irish Coffee

I love coffee and I love whiskey, and here's the perfect recipe to combine them both in a drink with a history as rich and manly as its taste. Irish coffee as we know it was originally conceived by Joe Sheridan, the head chef at what later came to be Shannon International Airport in west Ireland. A flying-boat-full of American passengers disembarked after a particularly rough storm on a cold winter evening in the 1940's and Sheridan spiked their coffees with whiskey and some other ingredients to warm them up as fast as possible. When the passengers noticed the difference, they asked if they were drinking Brazilian coffee but were told instead
