I guess I should begin by saying that this is not a religious post, nor about theism or the lack thereof. It really isn't even about spirituality, though it could be if that's something you seek to cultivate. It I have my own relationship to those things, and I'm sure you do too.
Rather, this is a reflection on personhood, on being a good man.
Okay, with that said:
"Soon," says Tanner Guzy, "winter will be waning, and with it we’ll shed our cold weather uniform." The thaw is coming...some of us had a taste last week, until Titan came along and dumped plenty of fresh ice and snow. But, spring will happen, cause it happens every year
I love spring as much as the next guy, but I'm trying to write this post without sneezing my brains out. Are you too popping antihistamines as we speak? Don't worry - I feel ya. Spring might be your friends' favorite season to stop and smell the roses, but for some of us, spring means a whole lotta pain. And tissues.
The temperature continues to rise, and we're nearing the season when many will leave behind a hand-warming mug of perfectly-brewed hot coffee, and opt for a low-acid, refreshing glass of cold coffee.
There are lots of items on the market that can aid in the process, but odds are, you probably already have everything you need to make perfect cold-brewed coffee at home.
The entire U.S. has had one bizarre winter. In my state, it's been the sixth warmest winter on record, and the entire world began to bloom in mid-March, instead of the normal late April, seven weeks later.
And yet, it hasn't helped my sense of spring fever. Sure, I've been able to start bicycling earlier this year, and my garden is already planted, whereas normally we have to wait until Mother's Day. But that sense to get out; to leave the house behind, to explore and be at the mercy of things you can't control? Still as strong as ever.
And these unbelievable trailers by Cricket are not helping. One bit.
It will come as no surprise that I'm not really into the imagery of Easter. In fact, I mostly hate it. I mean...I like spring (a lot), I'm into finding stuff, and I definitely like candy, but all the nauseating Paas (Paaseating?) chickens and bunnies, the pastel colors, and the bows (what about Easter recollects bows?) don't do much for me.
But...I absolutely love dying Easter eggs. Always have, since I was a kid. I imagine it's because my parents were both teachers that worked in the summer as well, so spring break was the only time we all had off, so Easter egg-dying usually happened while traveling and brought along its excitement. I
With spring in full swing, its time to get out the bikes, dust 'em off, spiff 'em up, and hit the road. Which we would, of course, if it'd stop raining all the time. (Does Mother Nature respond to fist shakes?)
Then, once your bike is all tuned up and you're back in the habit, try of these bike-related craft and DIY projects to really show your cycle you care. Or, you know, make your ride more comfortable and safer. That too.
