The 10 Best Instant Ramen Asian Noodles from Around the World

created at: 05/14/2012

Though they're not something you want to eat everyday, instant Asian noodles are a pretty helpful thing to have on hand. Whether you're working on a project late into the night and realize it's 10:00 p.m. and you haven't had anything to eat all day, or if you need to keep something in your bottom desk at work for when you forget to pack, or if you simply don't feel cooking, it's nice to have something small and inexpensive. Just add some actual nutrients with some frozen vegetables, a fried egg or leftover roast chicken, and some fresh herbs and sauces to make it sing.

How to: Make the Best Pancakes Ever

I grew up thinking I didn't like pancakes. As I grew up and learned to cook for myself, I realized I what I didn't like was Bisquick and fake maple-flavored syrup. Pancakes, on the other hand, (at least the first 75% of eating them)

The 1̶0̶0̶ 7 Foods You Should Really Eat Before You Die

created at: 04/26/2012

There's a current micro-meme that's found its way all over Facebook and the blogosphere, in which there appears a relatively generic alphabetical list of somewhat less-than-dominant foods with the title, "The 100 Foods You Should Eat Before You Die."

In the words of Time magazine's Josh Ozersky, the list "looks like it took about six minutes to think up. You could have created the whole thing while listening to 'Aqualung.' It’s simply a bunch of unconnected foods, listed alphabetically, without any kind of qualifier.

How to: Make Coca-Cola Fried Chicken

Yep, Coca-Cola fried chicken. You've heard of beer-battered fish and chips, a baked ham glazed in Dr. Pepper, or Korean barbecued short ribs marinated in 7Up, so adding a bit of beverage to one of the world's greatest foods is sort of a no-brainer.

Sandwich Cake: Awesome or Disgusting?

created at: 04/03/2012

Cake purists out there may not approve, but I think this savory, Scandinavian-style sandwich cake called a smörgåstårta looks incredible. Layers of bread separate creamy fillings, and a frosting made of sour cream and cream cheese tops it off.

Vegetables Turned into Creepy Creatures

created at: 03/22/2012

Remember those "How Are You Peeling" books from the early aughts, when that dude would add little eyes to mishapen fruits to make squished little faces out of them?

These are way cooler. "BBDO Moscow created these interesting advertisements for Greenpeace to educate consumers about genetically modified foods. They made creatures out of vegetables to emphasize the theme of their campaign 'Do you know what you eat?'"

How to: Adapt "Modernist Cuisine" Techniques for Contemporary Cooking at Home

created at: 03/12/2012

If you've seen any sort of cooking shows on television, or read food magazines, or cookbooks, or. you know, go to restaurants...you've noticed there's been a change in the way that high end chefs are preparing our food. Laboratory equipment and texture-altering (but perfectly healthly) chemicals have found their ways into restaurant kitchens, fusing the best of scientific understanding with the art of cooking.

Some have called it "molecular gastronomy," and many "modernist cuisine," but most of these techniques haven't really been available to the home chef without an immersion circulator, tanks of liquid nitrogen, and a lab storage facility next to their spice cabinet.

Until, of course,
