50 Times Online Shopping Led To Regret And Disappointment
In today's world, buying clothes online isn't just a luxury; it's a necessity. Life can be too busy to make it to the mall, so buying clothes online saves us a lot of time. Plus, it can be easier to find certain styles and sizes.
That being said, shopping online isn't all sunshine and rainbows. Oftentimes, the products that are promoted online don't meet our expectations, leading to some disappointing but hilarious moments. Take a look at these photos to see what I mean.
Not The Polka Dots!
Imagine ordering the dress on the left and getting the dress on the right instead. The only thing that is similar between these two outfits is the polka-dot pattern. Otherwise, they are completely different. Hopefully the buyer was able to get a refund!
When You Order From A Wholesale Site From China
This dress isn't too far off from the one in the photo, but you can tell the quality isn't there. The fabric looks thin and papery, and the dress's real color is much paler than the photo. I would be surprised if this dress survived a day's worth of wear and tear.
The Sizing Was A Bit Off
The good news is that the dress actually looked like the photos online. The bad news is that it arrived about three sizes too big. That's the problem with online clothes shopping: either the item doesn't look anything like the picture, or it's the wrong size. It can be a real lose-lose situation.
A Backpack For Ants
Apparently, we can't even buy backpacks online without getting scammed. Someone was expecting a normal, full-size backpack, and what they got instead was more like the size of a coin purse. Just look at that banana for scale.
The "Trash Bag" Dress
Not only does this dress look much smaller than the one in the picture, but according to the buyer, the fabric actually felt like a garbage bag. That is so disappointing. No one wants to throw their money away on poorly made garments.
Don't Order Your Prom Dress Online
Ordering your prom dress online might seem like a great way to save money, but it rarely works out the way you think it will. Usually, the photos online are AI-generated, and the real dress that arrives is a cheap imitation. Save your money and go to a real dress store.
It Doesn't Live Up To The Vision
To be fair, this dress does look very similar to the one in the photo. It looks like the issue is more with the garment's sizing. It wasn't tailored properly in the top, giving it this sad and saggy look instead of the chic one pictured on the model.
Some Assembly Required
When you order a new pair of boots, no one expects having to assemble them. Sadly, that is the case here. I'm really hoping they came with instructions because, based on the photo, this looks like it's going to be a complicated DIY project.
The Old Bait And Switch
Here is another dress that failed to live up to its online expectations. The color and fabric of the dress that arrived look completely different from the photo. I have a sneaking suspicion that the company that made this dress got the image from a real designer's website, then made a cheap copy.
It Looks So Sad
Marabou robes were popular in the past and were often featured in classic movies as part of the leading lady's wardrobe. It makes sense why people still seek out this item in the modern age when they want to add some vintage glamour to their lives. But be careful ordering one online. Look at how sad and shrivelled this one looks. It is absolutely pitiful.
Not Even Close
Here's some advice: if you see a great deal for a ballgown online that looks too good to be true, it probably is. The reason why extravagant ballgowns cost so much money is that they need skilled seamstresses and quality fabric to look good. This is a classic case of "you get what you pay for".
It Looks A Little Small
The photo on the left looks like a cute and cozy sweater, but what arrived is not living up to anyone's expectations. Not only is it way too small, but the mitten pockets can barely fit anyone's hands. It's too bad it didn't work out; it would have been an adorable sweater otherwise!

Imagine this woman's horror when she realized that the dress she purchased online was more of a tent with armholes. The dress that arrived was too short, shapeless, and had the skirt sewn onto the sleeves. Oh, well, at least it made for a hilarious photo.
Fashion Fail
It's never a good sign when you buy something online, go to try it on, and this is the result. Clearly, no one could pull off wearing this ensemble in public. It looks like it was made from a paper bag.
What A Letdown
As someone who adores a cozy sweater in the fall, receiving something like this in the mail would send me into a tailspin. The material is a cheap nylon/polyester blend, and the sweater design was just printed on. If it's not made out of wool or cotton, I'm not wearing it.

Unfortunately, online shopping is not an opportunity to take fashion risks or try unconventional styles. There is a lot of photoshopping and deceptive camera angles that go into making the clothes look good. Sadly, they rarely look that way in real life.

A common online scam is stealing a photo from a higher-end company that uses quality fabrics and then recreating the same pattern on a cheap nylon material. That's exactly what happened here. The buyer thought they were getting a 100% linen shirt, but they got this instead.
"I'm A Pepper" Doesn't Have The Same Ring To It
Everyone has purchased a shirt simply because it had a funny slogan at least once in their lives, right? Well, when the shirt comes with the wrong slogan, that has to be one of the greatest disappointments in life. This dupe totally ruined the punchline. Who wants to advertise that they are a pepper on their shirt?
They Might Be Too Stretchy
We've seen a bunch of photos of clothing items that arrived too small, but here's one that was made for a giant. We know that leggings are supposed to be stretchy, but these ones are taking things too far. They shouldn't reach your armpits.
I Think They Needed To Resize The File
Who wouldn't want a blurry photo on a T-shirt? Uh, most people that's who, especially when the image was supposed to be quite detailed and technical. So, what went wrong here? My guess is that they took a low-quality image from another company and tried to print it on shirts. This was the result.
Good Grief
Just about everybody knows the iconic yellow shirt worn by Charlie Brown in the Peanuts comics. I guess someone forgot to tell this online store that the yellow stripe is supposed to go all the way around the edge of the shirt and not end abruptly in the middle.
We're Taking Fashion Risks Out Here
A transparent collared shirt would be a bold look on anyone. That's why you need to buy clothes like this from a real designer; otherwise, you're going to end up looking like this poor guy on the right. Better luck next time!
Why Is It So Small?
A mom-to-be was excited to find this cute shirt for Halloween on Amazon, but the shirt that was delivered was hilariously bad. The design is so small, you can barely see it. When she wears this over her baby bump, it's going to be lost entirely.
There Goes $90 Down The Drain
Clearly, these boots were a knock-off of the popular brand Uggs, but this shopper thought they scored a deal. After all, lots of reputable companies sell boots similar to this. Well, the boots that arrived did not meet her expectations and were described as "dollar store quality." Yikes.

The shirt on the left had a beautiful gradient color scheme, but the one on the right looks completely washed out. I would be so disappointed if I bought this online. Who wants a shirt that only has shades of gray?
It's Way Off The Mark
I will be honest: pulling off a purple silk jumpsuit would be a tall order for most people, but with the right outfit, it can happen. Unfortunately, this online knock-off was not that outfit. On the plus side, they do look like they could be transformed into some comfortable pajamas.

One of the worst things online retailers do these days is show product photos with lots of intricate details, and then print those details on the final product. I think this shopper was expecting, you know, real buttons on her pants – not fake ones that were printed on.

I can see the vision here. The photo shows an elegant coat dress that looks like something out of a dark fantasy film. Instead, this woman was treated to an ill-fitting coat with a flimsy hood. I hope she was able to source the coat of her dreams after returning this!
It Looks Like A Potato Sack
Sadly, nothing is working about this sweatshirt dress. The color is dull, the fit is terrible, and the neck is ridiculously high. Girl, just send this back, get your money refunded, and never think about it again.
Another Limp Dressing Gown
Here's another marabou robe that failed to live up to the vintage fantasies in our minds. Where is the elegance? The feathers? The style? It just looks like a swatch of fabric with a ribbon tied around the waist.
I Think They Got The Shows Mixed Up
Maybe a Golden Girls-Friends crossover is the iconic show we never knew we needed. When you order a shirt with a specific show on it, and this arrives instead, at that point you just have to laugh. Consider it a two-for-one deal.
Even Buying Shoes Online Can Be A Gamble
The person who shared this photo on Reddit even admitted that they should have been more skeptical when they saw this "deal", but some lessons are best learned the hard way. On the bright side, while they don't look like the photo, they don't look too bad. I wonder how well they fit?
They Printed The Yarn Design On
Instead of a beautiful and colorful knit cardigan, this woman got a thin, polyester garment that had a yarn design printed on it. Sure, there are things like vegan leather and faux fur in the fashion world, but I think I have to put my foot down when it comes to printed yarn designs. We just want the real thing.

It seems that knitted sweaters are the biggest gamble to buy online. So many companies aren't selling knitted sweaters at all – just cheap imitations. From now on, stick to what you know or learn how to knit yourself!

Sure, they look similar, but you can just tell that something is off. Besides the color, the design doesn't look as detailed as the one that was advertised. If I got this in the mail, I would feel so disheartened.

I'm not a big fan of high heels to begin with, but I need to know if it's even possible to walk in these shoes. I'm going to guess that the answer is no. Just looking at the shape of the shoes, I'm confused as to how exactly one's foot is supposed to fit in them. If anyone has the answer, let me know.
One Size Fits All Is A Lie
If you ever see a clothing item that is labeled as "one size fits all," do not buy it. If you need further evidence, just look at these photos. These leggings look like they would fit a child just fine, but on an adult they look like bike shorts.
They Pulled A Fast One On Us
Judging by this photo, it looks like a company took regular black rubber boots, added some painted details, and glued on some plastic parts to try to pass them off as snowboarding boots. Did they honestly think anyone would be happy getting these?
It's Not Even A Cardigan
How would you feel if the sweater you ordered wasn't even the same style as the one shown in the photo? Pretty angry, right? I think this woman was more baffled and confused than anything. How do they let companies get away with this?
Hey, Those Aren't Nikes
Here's one final lesson to leave you with: If you order Nikes from China, there is about a 90% chance that the shoes you'll receive are not Nikes. These shoes got the color right, but not much else. I bet the shopper is kicking themselves for not buying directly from the brand.
