50 Hilarious Typos That Gave Signs A Whole New Meaning
Much like there are people in this world who aren't great at math or don't know much about biology other than that the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell, some people struggle with spelling and grammar.
The English language can be a tricky one. Every rule has an exception and it can be confusing to remember which rules apply to which sentences, but in the end, there's always a right way to spell something, and not all of these people were able to figure out what that was.
Bone Apple Teeth
We've all had a moment like this where we have to spell a word for the first time that we usually only hear said out loud and it goes horribly wrong, but it's unfortunate that this person's error was printed for everyone to see.
New And Approved Sign Coming Too
There are more things wrong with this sign than there are right. The restaurant may be new and approved, but whoever wrote this sign should not have approved it being put up.
There's A Reason It's Not Called Spelling King
This sign consists of 13 words total and nearly all of those are wrong in this context. Who wrote up this sign, looked it over and thought "yep, looks good" then clicked print?
Jon Bovi Must Feel So Blessed
If you have a problem with this tattoo, take another look at it because they don't care. It's their life, if they want to have a spelling error tattooed on them for the rest of their life, that's their problem.
That's Not How Numbers Work
The person that was in charge of making these elevator signs either had a wildly aggressive lisp, or they didn't pass the first grade. Better yet, maybe they were in the first grade.
You Shouldn't Eat Your Relatives
Maybe your aunt is being cross with you because you're trying to eat her. We wouldn't be thrilled if one of our family members was trying to eat us either, so you can't blame her for being mad.
Thanks For The Reassurance
It would be so nice to live in a place where you know that no matter where you park, your car is going to be perfectly fine when you come back to it. What a relief for the owner!
It Just Got Deep
This sign is just asking for someone to have an existential crisis during a fire drill. You're just minding your own business trying to exit a building safely and now you're thinking about the meaning of your life.
This Was Not Egg-Cellent
This person is either super concerned about their friends Sam and Ella, or the salmonella they got from drinking raw eggs has already infected their brain. You know they were probably trying to Google it too and probably kept getting results of random people named Sam or Ella.
Is It Worth The Risk?
Excuse me, what? This is painful to try to read or understand what they're actually saying here, but basically the takeaway is don't use this lift because who knows what could happen to you.
Dry Clean The Dirty
We hope that this is some sort of futuristic self cleaning blanket, because there's no way that anyone would be able to follow those instructions and properly wash it without messing it up.
Exceptions? Expectations? Inspections?
It's too bad that this instruction doesn't make any sense, because the fact that it's in capital letters makes us think it must've been important for whoever is reading this sign.
This Price Is Despicable
It took us longer than it should have to figure out what this sign was actually supposed to say. Once we figured out that it was supposed to say 'despicable me' we were also concerned about the fact that they cost nearly $17?
Why Doesn't Bob Want It Anymore?
If you're going to try to sell something online, make sure you know how to spell that product. No one is going to want to buy something from someone who can't even name the product they're selling.
Are You Old Enough To Drive To The Store?
This has to be a joke... doesn't it? If you're old to use the stove or use an instant pot, you're old enough to know how to properly spell 'ingredients.'
Ball Is Life
Maybe this person is just a really big basketball fan and wants a constant reminder of their love for the game. That doesn't account for the "believe in youself" part, but we'll let that slide. Why add insult to injury...
Seems Like Someone Wasn't Paying Attention In Class
This gift must've been tough for the teacher to receive at Christmas... Either someone wasn't paying as much attention in class as they should've been, or this teacher really hasn't earned this present.
None Of These Things Are Like The Others
If you stare at these long enough you start to question what the actual proper spelling of the word is. It all becomes a blur and suddenly you find yourself wondering if maybe you're the one that's been spelling it wrong all this time.
Tongues Off The Merchandise
On second thought, please don't do this. Stick to using the tissue paper or the tongs, but keep your tongue away from the bagels until after you've purchased them and taken them home.
You Were So Close
Who would have thought that when someone phoned in to tell them that they had made a mistake on their sign, they also had to tell them how to fix that error?
Is Your Favorite Movie Also French Eyes?
If this was someone's opening line on a dating app, would this entice you to learn more about a person who doesn't know how to spell 'franchise' or would you unmatch them?
No One Tell Her
The real question is do you think she knows there's a spelling error? It's not like she would see it on a daily basis. Maybe she's just blissfully living her life in ignorance.
No Elder Abuse Allowed
Initially, we thought this sign was supposed to say "do not push on seniors" and we were concerned that people were going around pushing the elderly. Turns out it was supposed to say 'sensors' which is less aggressive.
You're One In A Melon
Does this mean you're not allowed to elope at all, or can you only elope if you pay the fee? $5 seems like a pretty cheap wedding fee so it's probably worth it.
Not Exactly Like Mom Makes
Look, this one might not even be a typo. We think it was supposed to say 'mashed potatoes,' but at the same time, this doesn't look like something we'd want to eat at Thanksgiving dinner.
They Prefer The Term Cosplayers, Okay?
You've heard of "no shirt, no shoes, no service" but what about no costume no service? Typically, business owners don't love people showing up in costume, but we're not the ones that own the business, so who are we to judge?
Did The Chicken Agree To This?
If you don't have the chicken's permission, we don't want to hear from you. However, if you have chicken parmesan, then we definitely want to hear from you because we want some too.
Why Is There More Than One Aaron?
How many Aarons do you even know? This is like discovering that your best friend actually has a new best friend and now they don't have time for you, except it turns out they actually are just running errands.
Seems Like A Fair Trde
So here's the deal: we're going to tow your car, but you're guaranteed to find $50 which you can then put towards paying to get your car out of the impound lot, so it evens out.
You Don't Have The Right To Be Stupid
This sign right here is the epitome of irony. It's the reason the word irony exists. If you're going to be the person who drives around with an aggressive sign on your car, you better be sure that everything is spelled correctly.
Those Tongues Are At It Again
Here's yet another sign that's encouraging people to use their "tongues" when what we really think they meant is "tongs". Let's just hope customers shopping for bread put two and two together and avoid using their tongues. Otherwise, this place is about to get a visit from the health inspector.
I Don't Think That's The Word You Were Looking For
This sign has a few issues. Right off the bat, the word "special" is spelled incorrectly, but as you keep reading, you'll notice there is another glaring word mix-up. Instead of "asparagus," they wrote "Asperger's," which is an outdated medical term that referred to Autism Spectrum Disorder. It's time to redo the Daily Special sign, guys!
I Wish Portal Potties Were Real
Absolutely no one likes or wants to use a porta-potty, but what if I told you it was a portal potty? Now that sounds more like something you'd want to try, right? Maybe it transports you to another dimension – who knows? The point is that I wish this were real and not just a typo on a sign.
Take Me To Pair Of Dice
I have to give this person credit for at least sounding out the word, because their attempt was close. Instead of "paradise" they wrote "pair of dice". They almost had it! Almost.
Oh, There Is Going To Be A Lot Of Pain
We all know the phrase "No pain, no gain," but this tattoo, unfortunately, says, "No pen, no gain." It would be the perfect motivational phrase for a professional writer or someone along those lines, but I have a feeling that is not the case here.
Not The Toad!
Just imagine that all those times when people said your car was at risk of being towed, they meant that a giant toad was going to come along and smash it to pieces. Maybe my imagination is getting away from me, but it's a more entertaining outcome than watching a tow truck do the work.
We Are All Going To Save So Much Money
Imagine if we could all make our own gasoline at home with a simple step-by-step recipe. We would all save a fortune instead of having to empty out our wallets at the gas station. Unfortunately, it looks like they actually meant "receipt" and not "recipe" on this sign, so we're going to be stuck paying high prices for a while.
Incontinence Is Not Something We Want To Associate With Pools
If you've ever had to deal with incontinence firsthand, then you know that it is an inconvenience... which is the word I think they intended to use here. If that's not the case, then I sincerely hope whoever is dealing with incontinence feels better soon.
Quesadilla Is A Hard Word To Spell
We'll give this person some slack because quesadilla isn't exactly the easiest word to spell. Even though they didn't spell the word correctly, a "9-layer case idea" is an intriguing concept, like something you would see on a crime show. Maybe they are onto something here.
Better Call the Corner
If you're confused by this bumper sticker, you have every right to be because it makes absolutely no sense. I think they were going for the word "coroner," which would make this a very hostile message to come across. Just back away from the car and try not to cross paths with it again.
From Dust Til Dawn
This looks like your standard pool rules sign that can be purchased from any pool supply store. All the work was done for them, except for the pool's operating hours, and that's where things went wrong. Instead of "dusk," they put "dust." Dust? They were just one letter away from making sense.
You Have To Watch Out For That Implement Weather
Here is another example where two very similar sounding words got mixed up. "Implement" means to put a plan into place. "Inclement" means harsh, usually referring to weather. This person definitely meant to use the word inclement in this case.
Can Anyone Read This?
Forget the spelling mistake, this penmanship is awful. Once you're able to decode what it actually says, it looks like they wrote "bugger" instead of "burger". Thank goodness this package has a transparent window on it so that we could figure out what the heck it was trying to say.
I, Too, Would Like To Poke A Dot
Okay, this typo is actually kind of adorable. Instead of "polka dot," they wrote, "poke a dot". Well, who wouldn't want to poke a dot? And who decided that "polka dot" should be spelled like that anyway? I almost prefer the wrong version.
She's What?!
This seems like something they would say on a reality show where you have to determine which people are real and which ones are made out of cake. While I love the idea of this becoming a catchphrase, I think what they were going for here was the word "cheesecake".
Not The Minions!
If you watch the Despicable Me movies, then you know minions are those cute yellow characters in overalls. Therefore, the idea of a filet minion is kind of horrifying. You aren't supposed to eat those little guys!
It Definitely Does Not Tickle Your Lips
If someone took this sign literally, they would be in for a rude awakening. Clearly, this is an elliptical machine used for cardio workouts. Do not attempt to tickle your lips with this device because you will likely end up in the hospital.
Aww, I Want To See A Bubble Bee
Here is another spelling mistake that is honestly really cute. Who wouldn't love the idea of seeing a bubble bee? But in all seriousness, you should really pay attention to this sign because it sounds like there is a bee nest very close by.
Oop, That Is Not How That Is Spelled
Star anise is used to flavor a number of foods and drinks. Unfortunately, someone tried to "sound it out" while writing these labels and wrote "anus" instead. That is one body part people do not want to be thinking about when they are shopping for ingredients.
Do You Know Tumor Rick?
Here is another unfortunate spice-related spelling error. Instead of "turmeric" someone wrote "tumor Rick". I sincerely hope that there isn't anyone out there who has this as a nickname or legal name. That would be really sad.
