45+ Ridiculous Sights Seen At The Airport
Whether you hate it or love it, flying is a real pain. The experience is quite a hassle from the moment you arrive at the airport. You take off every item of clothing and jewelry, but somehow, you still set off the alarm. Let's not forget about those exhausting flight delays too.
However, with the ups and downs of flying, people managed to make the best out of everything. From the strange to the heartwarming, here are some unusual sights spotted at the airport.
Beastie Boys Getting A Hold Of The Gate Display
Please, let this not be the ghost of Adam Yauch. It's like he wanted to Sabotage your entire flying experience.
Maybe the people who are working at the airport just happen to be big fans of the group. Outside of that spooky possibility, the Beastie Boys will always fight for our right to party.
Who Let The Dogs Out?
Oh no! somebody spilled some puppies. All doggo lovers will agree this is a great example of a dream airport.
Man, I wish there was a way to have dogs accompany you on all of our flights. It would be difficult since you would miss your flight and the next one after that.
"Sorry Mr. Yankovic, You Can't Bring Your Accordion"
A depressed Weird Al just isn't the same songwriter I grew up listening too. Cheer up, man.
Who knows, maybe the destination you're going to will welcome you with a box of accordions. That way, you don't have to be empty-handed again.
Kinda Funny It's Going To O'Hare
It looks like that whole plane will be the tail section. You can imagine this was a very pleasant flight.
Furries tend to be some of the nicest and most accepting people out there. After all, it's hard to be bigoted about silly things when you're pretending to be a cat, dog, or a fox.
You Can't Lose Your Luggage Now
Give this guy a round of applause. That's actually smart if you think about it. The second you lose your luggage, you better hope some strangers find you before you call it quits.
I may need to do this for the next time I travel. But good lord, check out the socks and sandals. Ew.
When You're That Bored With Being A Pilot
Now do you want to be a pilot? They probably need the exercise as they sit for hours on end during flights.
Seeing this makes you wonder how surgeons are after performing an operation for hours. I'm assuming they do the same thing, but they gotta be clean and sanitized to do it.
But First, Let Me Take A Selfie
You go, girl! She looks awesome and with a beautiful smile. Somehow, the most hardworking people are the ones who can find a lot of fun.
It's true, even in the most simple things. It'd be nice if more people who work at the airport smile more.
*Sighs* Get The Pitchfork
Jewish by day, strippers by night. Apparently, being a Rabbi doesn't pay as well as it used to, so these guys settled for a second job.
Now you finally know what they wear under those coats. The one with the legs looks like Woody Harrelson from King Pin.
How To Entertain Yourself During A Snowstorm
That circle is in such a great shape that it puts my broccoli trees from art class to shame. I can see why the flight was canceled, but really, though, they could have made some snow angels.
It shouldn't take you four hours to come up with the most perfect thing ever.
There Can Only Be One
Running into your doppelgänger at the airport is a strong possibility. It's no surprise why these guys didn't seem impressed.
The guy in the back is all "Are you mocking me, bruh?" but really, he forgot the memo about parting his hair to the left.
Parents Who Have A Good Sense Of Humor
It was nice of this Victoria's Secret model to do this. Not everything has to be socio-politically deconstructed. Sometimes, a kid in a shirt is just a kid in a shirt.
You know what? I would have my SO wear this if it helped the possibility of meeting a model. You never know who might come across in this small world.
A Day At The Spa
Did they just get their feet polished, or all of their armor? Every cyberman wants shiny shoes these days. I hope they also had a Dalek polishing station. It's only fair.
It must be a nightmare going through security with all that metal. Who knows what they're up to?
Dogs Have Luggage Too
Sorry LOTR fans, Gandalf didn't put the stick there. It's a nice stick, but it's too nice. This is clearly a dog's luggage.
Think about it — they can have water and food and this is the only thing they can have with them. If it gets lost, your dog is going to be one unpleasant animal.
"How's It Going, Hooman?"
Peekapoop! I would totally burst out laughing and accidentally pass gas because of it. If I could, I'd give the dog a snack but not everyone is going to have their snacks on hand while traveling.
If he walks into my stall, he's all mine. Just kidding, I'd gladly return him to their rightful owners.
Ain't No Rest For The Old Men
He is wearing glasses with a magnifying glass just to be on the phone. As much as the truth hurts, we probably all will have to have the same pair someday.
I'll admit, the magnifying glass is a nice touch, but I see he still uses the same suitcase he brought with him to Woodstock.
You Have To Be Kidding Me
Outlets in airport terminals are a common and essential feature these days. Many travelers rely on them to charge their phones and devices before boarding. However, apparently one airport just has these realistic outlet stickers on the wall instead of the real thing. I would be so angry if I came across this.
Not The Best Placement
For some reason, one airport decided to place their seating like this, making it virtually impossible to sit on one side of this bench. Couldn't they have moved it, like, eight inches away from the wall? That would have solved everything.
Even The Airport Gets Tech Issues
Everyone dreads installing a computer update, including the airport's IT department. Instead of flight information, now everyone can watch in realtime as someone struggles to reboot the system. It's going to be a long day for this IT person.
Interesting Layout
One traveler was greeted with this unique layout when they entered a bathroom at an airport. They do say that traveling is a great way to meet people, but I'm not sure I would want to do it this way. Some things should be kept private.
Googly Eyes Strike Again
I guess someone had a bit of time before boarding their flight and decided to add googly eyes to some of the advertisements in the terminal. Thanks for this funny, but oddly terrifying prank. How long do you think they stayed there until someone noticed and took them down?
Define "Healthy"
Everyone knows that airport food is usually a mix of fast food and random snacks. It's definitely not the healthiest food on the planet, but maybe this airport thought they could rebrand their offerings and trick everyone in the process. I'm sorry to say that Twizzlers and M&Ms are not part of any food group.
What Are Those?
There's always that one passenger who tries to bring on the most random item imaginable. In this case, it looks like multiple large statues that vaguely resemble some sort of animal. What on Earth could those be?
You Don't Travel With Tires?
Photos like these proves that you just never know what you'll see when you go to the airport. It looks like this person needs to bring a full set of tires on board for some reason. Good luck getting those in the overhead bin.
Definitely Not Bodies... Right?
This would be an alarming sight for most people to see at baggage claim. While we don't know for sure what's in there, we do know that they are shaped like bodies and have been marked as "Fragile". We're not going to jump to conclusions, but the evidence is mounting here...
Goal!
In honor of the FIFA World Cup, one airport added these little soccer goals to their urinals. On one hand, this idea is kind of cute. On the other hand, it's kind of gross. Who is going to clean all those little soccer balls later on? Eww...
There's No Mistaking What This Room Is For
Usually, most public places rely on a tried-and-true pictogram or bathroom sign to communicate to people where the restrooms are. In this case, one airport really needed to spell it out for people, with this oversized wall graphic. Well, there won't be any doubts about this room's purpose.
Was This Intentional?
This is either the greatest advertising placement ever or the worst. One thing is for sure, every traveler who sees this ad is definitely going to remember it, so for that reason, I think we have to acknowledge the creativity that went into making this all work.
A Clever Idea
Not every weird thing spotted at the airport is weird in a bad way. Some are weird in a good way, and others are downright brilliant. These changerooms are designed for people who are traveling from a warm climate to a cold one, so they can wear something more weather appropriate. Pretty smart, if you ask me.
That's A Lot Of Confiscated Scissors
Check out this display of confiscated items at one airport. I can see scissors, pocket knives, lighters, and other questionable items. In this day and age, just try to avoid bringing anything sharp and pointy, or that can cause a fire, okay?
Just Another Day In Australia
Apparently, even the airport in Australia is full of creepy-crawlies that only exist on their continent. If you had any second-guesses about going to Australia, maybe this is a sign (hee-hee) to pick another location that doesn't have terrifying snakes and bugs.
This Makes A Lot Of Sense
This sort of looks like a weird liminal space straight out of Backrooms, but it's actually an indoor bathroom for dogs. Since more people travel with their pets these days, they need a place to let them relieve themselves. Great idea!
Interesting Souvenir
Someone spotted these retired runway lights at an airport in Japan. I'm not sure who would want to buy one of these, but I guess if it has always been your dream to own an old runway light, here is your chance. The rest of us will just stick with a keychain or something along those lines.
I Need A Recombobulation Area
I think we could all use more recombobulation areas in our lives. Why? Because life is stressful, and sometimes we just need a dedicated area to get our bearings together. Who's with me?
Why Aren't These In More Airports?
How would you feel if there was a machine that generated a short story for you while you were waiting to board your flight? I personally think that's a pretty cool idea. It seems like a better alternative to just doom-scrolling on your phone for hours on end.
May The Force Be With You
In honor of Star Wars Day, LAX included departure information for places like Endor and Alderaan, much to the delight of fans waiting in the terminal. Hopefully, this playful gesture didn't backfire. It would be a little awkward if someone went up to the service desk and tried to get a ticket to Endor.
It's Art
Check out this art installation spotted at one airport. I can't tell if it's a tribute to corn or to planes, but this is one unusual art piece that will definitely make you think. Who knew airports could have such an artistic side?
A Lego Vending Machine?!
Here's another find that is unusual but awesome. I've never seen a Lego vending machine, but it looks like they exist at some airports. This would be a fun way to pass the time if your plane got delayed.
If Only There Was Some Other Way To Arrange These
Take a look at the layout of these terminals. If you're confused, that's okay because we all are. Instead of the logical order of "A, B, C.." and so on, we got this jumble of letters with no clear pattern whatsoever. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people miss their flights here.
Socks Should Be Mandatory
Taking off your socks and shoes to work in the airport lounge is a bold move. One that is going to cause people around you to give you the stink eye and might even trigger some sort of health violation protocol. Please keep your socks on in public places. We're begging you.
Just In Case You Were Wondering
Surprise, surprise: the toilet water at the airport is not suitable for drinking. You'd think this would be common sense, but I guess the issue came up enough times that they had to install a sign.
Can Someone Explain This?
You never know what you'll find in an airport bathroom, but a toilet full of vegetables is one of the more unexpected options. My guess is that a kid who really didn't want to eat his vegetables pulled off the ultimate stash-and-dash operation to secure dessert.
Thanks, Honey
Be careful who you choose to pick you up from the airport. There are some people who can't resist pulling a prank, and these hilarious "welcome home" signs are easy to whip up. If you want to avoid embarrassment, just call an Uber next time.
When Computers Fail Us
These poor employees had to write out flight information on a whiteboard when their computer systems failed. The airport is complete chaos on a good day, so I can't even imagine what the atmosphere was like on this day. Someone give these workers a raise.
That's Not A Man
It's actually a hyperrealistic bronze statue. Why would an airport commission something like this? I have no idea. Is it creepy? Absolutely yes. I wouldn't want to be left alone with this thing at night.
An Unintentional PSA
Check out the ceiling tiles in the smoking section of this airport. If you need photographic evidence to quit smoking, just look at this picture. If it can do that to ceiling tiles, imagine what it is doing to your lungs.
All The Comforts Of Home
Some people arrive to the airport completely prepared. Check out this guy – he has everything he needs to camp out in the terminal until his plane starts boarding. I also appreciate how everything is color-coordinated.
This Wasn't Planned
Two strangers who just happened to be wearing ridiculous Christmas suits found each other at the airport. It's good to know that the spirit of Christmas is alive and well, thanks to guys who can't resist buying novelty suits.
New Zealand's Airport Is Middle-Earth
If you ever wanted to see an oversized Gollum, just plan a visit to New Zealand's airport. Don't get me wrong, LOTR is cool and all, but was this really the best choice for decor? It is low-key terrifying.
Dad Found His Doppelganger
This photo is proof that no matter where you go, the dads of the world all basically dress the same. They see a plaid shirt and reasonably priced khakis, and they go crazy. These two need to become best friends.
Where Is His Ship?
It looks like even pirates have to rely on commercial airplanes these days. I guess the seven seas can be too unpredictable. My only question is, how did he get through security? Did he have to surrender his sword?
