The 100 Greatest Cooking Tips of All Time

created at: 05/01/2012

I’m sure that most of us, given the ideal opportunity (hassle-free admission, a full scholarship, and a magical year away from other jobs and responsibilities) would happily attend culinary school, and learn the knife skills, cooking techniques, and classical traditions developed over the centuries to turn good ingredients into great meals.

Until that likely opportunity arises, most of us will have to glean the tips from the masters when we can, noting ideas from TV appearances, magazine articles, and cookbooks.

This list, the “100 Greatest Cooking Tips of All Time,” was compiled by Food Network magazine, and includes ideas and techniques of chefs sharing what they know best: pasta technique from Mario Batali, pizza crust tips from Jim Lahey, cake tips from Duff Goldman, and proper New Orleans-style roux-making advice from Emeril.

Oh, and there’s plenty of ideas from non-Food Network-affliated chefs as well. Good ones.
